Kenwood: December, 1968.

Foot-holding "action" in the master bedroom at Kenwood.
Note the bedside literature in the picture below; John, in common with the rest of them (and with the possible exception of Ringo), always was an autodidact.
Apparently in later years, and in Joycean fashion, he would read seven pages of seven books before sleep, covering such subjects as ancient history, anthropology and mysticism, amongst many others.
But back to feet:

Many thanks to Robert Dietrich.
ADDENDUM: More bewks:

Lizzie just sent this 'un. Thanks Lizzie.

Kenwood: sunroom - December, 1968.

It's been a truly dreadful fortnight, but life, apparently, trundles on, and with it this nonsense, I suppose. Which is possibly the gloomiest sentence I've ever typed.
Anyway. A splendid December '68 sunroom shot, found by Lizzie, and forwarded here.
Not sure who the others are, but the beardie looks quite Lennon-ish himself.

Kenwood: sunroom, December 1968.

More superlative sunroom shots from December 1968; the back wall and cupboards looking a little threadbare following Cynthia's clearance job. No more Safe As Milk (though shurely Lil and Cyn didn't nab those. Beefheart was, apparently, quite critical of the Beatles' more psychedelic oeuvre, which is a bit rich coming from the man who released Strictly Personal (though the phasing wasn't his fault). Still, whatever point I was trying to make when I began this sentence, some time ago, should be clear). Compare with June '67 - and note the re-upholstery of the couch had begun even then:

Enthralling stuff, yes? Hello? Helloooo? Echoechoechoetc etc etc.
Anyway, tea and salad was the order of this particular day:

Kenwood: master bedroom, December 1968.

John caught napping in the master bedroom at Kenwood in December, 1968 (and in its own way, a more intimite shot than some other more obvious contendahs).
Compare with the black and white pic previously on here:

Some more similarly first-rate shots have been shoved under my nose this evening, and they'll be on here in good time.
Sir Thom, I thank ye once more...

Kenwood: yet more December,1968.

One "upgrade" and one "new" pic from the terrace just outside the sunroom, December 1968, again, again.

Kenwood: December, 1968.

Another "new" photo, taken on the drive at Kenwood in early December, 1968.

Kenwood: sunroom - December, 1968.

Another fascinating image from December 1968 has surfaced. Although it's a variation on a theme, the most interesting thing is the presence of the den piano, occupying the space where the Fool painted keyboard used to be. Therein lies a tale...but I have no idea what it is. The last sighting of the Fool piano was in June of '68, where it can be seen in the home movie partially shot in the sunroom during the filming of Smile and Two Virgins. John and Yoko moved out of Kenwood shortly thereafter, of course, to allow Cynthia to move back in, before returning at the end of November (see posts passim).
What happened to the Fool piano in the interim? Did they take it with them to Montagu Square? How did it end up at George's country pile Friar Park? I dunno.
The den piano and the footstools that can be seen above, and in other shots taken in the sunroom in December 1968, were eventually moved to Tittenhurst, and presumably now reside in the Dakota:

Kenwood: December, 1968.

Another large scale photo session took place on December 1, 1968, from which these photos, taken immediately outside the sunroom overlooking the grounds, are drawn. Kenwood, of course, was practically empty by this point. Cynthia and her mother had spirited away most of the fixtures and fittings when they finally moved out shortly before the divorce was finalised. Much of this was sold by Cynthia in the early 1990s over the course of 3 auctions at Christie's in London.
According to Les Anthony, John's chauffeur, when John and Yoko moved back in at the end of November '68, they retreated to the 1st floor bedroom and spent much of the time there. He says that a small kitchen was constructed upstairs to facilitate the general lack of movement. Well, maybe so. Albert Goldman claimed that "for decor they stuck up their nude photos framed in a couple of condoms filled with piss"...shurely shome mistake?!

Drawing Room: December, 1968.

Another colour shot from the drawing room...I wonder when exactly John and Yoko moved out of Kenwood. Most reckon sometime in December, 1968. I suppose Bill Martin would know, as he bought it from John.
