Swimming Pool: June, 1967.
This pic has been on a couple of times in different incarnations, but this is the most complete, uncropped version I've found so far. The colours seem a bit more natural here too.
The Chapel Street party? Certainly of a similar "grandad" ilk, though a different shirt, being green, and frilly. I couldn't care less about fashion per se, but that's one of the few Beatlesy areas which hasn't been explored much...and I reckon there could be an interesting book in it.
they had a taylor, and i remember john and paul having shirts of the same material but different - maybe it is the green flowered one john was wearing at the pepper party. paul had one without the ruffles. but i would have to go through my photo books to confirm that info. they did wear some great clothes in 1967!
i just looked and it is true - same material, different styles. maybe you should start a blog about the beatles clothes - that would be interesting! it could eventually turn into a book, like this one on kenwood, where you're doing such an incredible job!

If you look at the photos/film of John when he was being interviewed with George and Ringo in Bangor upon hearing of Brian Epstein's death, he is wearing the same kind of shirt as Paul is during the LSD interview in the back garden at Cavendish Avenue. The shirt John is wearing at Chapel Street is the same material as those, but, as you say, has the ruffles. I've never used the word "ruffles" before, and don't intend to use it again - which is why I'm not really the right man for the clothes blog - though it's a good idea for someone!
I personally can't believe that there hasn't been a Beatles clothing blog (or book!) yet. Their fashion, especially during the psychedelic era, was really quite fabulous. I'm not an expert on fashion so I can't do it myself. :/
