'Tache debate: post-tache.

Getting a little off-topic here....but who cares? Lizzie Bravo with John the day he shaved his tache - you can see he still has the sidies (but please God, let's not start a sidies debate). Many thanks again to Lizzie for letting us see this.

  2. It looks like John may have gotten a hair trim as well as removing his moustache on this day.. I'm guessing this was a recording session for the "Magical Mystery Tour" given the date. Getting to take a picture with John wearing a groovy jacket ....How lucky can you get :)

  3. We can easily find out thanks to Mr Lewisohn. Lizzie says this photo was taken in the early hors of June 9th outside Abbey Road (then plain EMI) studios. According to Mark, they were working on You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) that night - and in fact, this was the session that Brian Jones played sax on.

  5. hi everyone! i just checked my diary. it says john left at 1:00 am (when my photo was taken) and went out with george. brian and anita there. i have to say i took fantastic photos of several of my friends with their fave beatle and they are sharp and centered. unfortunately, that is the only posed photo i have with john. there are a couple others where i am accidentally near him. i guess when you get used to seeing someone almost every day you don't think of having your photo taken with him. silly me! my friend denise took two photos of john and me in kenwood where he had his arm around me. he was all in gray, indian kaftan and pants. this was not my usual cheap copy of an instamatic, it was a 35mm camera my mother had sent me. denise touched the controls and too much sun came in - trust it to be incredibly sunny that day! all you can see is the faint contour of my mini skirt and john's trousers - it's all white! these two photos only exist in my brain and my heart. by the way, the rest of the slides came out perfect...

  6. If I recall correctly, it wasn't Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones who played sax on You Know My Name (Look Up The Number). It was actually Brian Jones from The Undertakers. They were a Liverpool band that George enjoyed. He later signed their singer/bassist Jackie Lomax to Apple Records.

  7. Hi Randy,

This one was cleared up (as many things have been) by Mark Lewisohn, who asked McCartney to clarify which Brian Jones it was in his interview at the start of the Recording Sessions book. Macca said it was definitely Jones of the Stones - plus Lizzie's diary says that Brian and Anita (Pallenberg) were there that night. So there we go.
