Wot a splendid pic. Just yer average psychedelic family, friend unt felines out for a stroll on a spring afternoon.
I'd guess this was taken around the time of the Pepper photo shoot (30th March, 1967), judging by the trousers. (We all know it was the trousers.)
The usual season's gratings to readahs, and, in this instance, a special grating to Mr R.
Amazing photo which I'd never seen! I will look through my book, I probably have a photo of him from that day, or at least I think a friend of mine does. Will post the date here. Happy Holidays to all from a boiling hot Rio de Janeiro!
ReplyDeleteIs the woman Cynthia?
DeleteNo - I think it's probably one of the Boyd sisters.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this photo was taken the same day that those Pepper-era home movies shown in "Imagine: John Lennon" were shot. (These were the ones shown while "A Day in the Life" was playing.)
ReplyDeleteIf I recall correctly, those home movies featured images of cats, Julian and Patti Boyd in what appears to be the gardens of Kenwood.

ReplyDeleteIf I recall correctly, those movies show Patti Boyd, cats and Julian on what I always have assumed are the grounds of Kenwood.
Looking at the garden, the mature trees in full leaf, this photo was taken summer 67 not March.
ReplyDeletePerhaps August / September.
I'm pretty sure John is still fully tached-up in this photo, and given that he shaved it off in early June it can't be that late. They also don't look like they are dressed for summer weather, and many of the trees at Kenwood are evergreens - see the December 1968 shots of John and Yoko walking in the garden; other than their attire there is little to suggest it is the middle of winter. Having said that, it may well be slightly later - possibly May or early June.
ReplyDeleteThose look like daffodils in the flower bed, which would make it March/ April.
ReplyDeleteYou don't get trees in full leaf in England in March /April. Julian has no coat on . On reflection perhaps this photo is from around the time of the launch party at Brian Epstines.John wore the same Afghan at that event. So June 67.?
ReplyDeleteLOVE this picture. Wish I could go back again and visit the garden.
ReplyDeleteThe party at Brian's was May 19th. You do get trees in full leaf if they are evergreens - and even some non-evergreens have leaves out in April in London and the home counties if it's been a warm spring, and March 1967 was apparently very sunny and mild. Given the daffies I reckon April or May is the best bet.
ReplyDeleteThat's Pattie Boyd, with John and Julian.
