Kenwood: overview.

A fascinating (no, really) look at what lies beneath all that foliage. (As ever, click on it for a good look.) The first thing that strikes the eye is that large-ish area of land to the right of the drive. In photos this doesn't even seem to be part of the grounds - and it looks fairly impenetrable in any case. However, there is an outbuilding (or two) of some kind tucked away in that bottom right hand corner, and one wonders if that area was the location of these June '67 pics.
(UPDATE: That isn't the right location. The greenhouse was situated at the bottom of the garden, and was demolished in the mid-90s. The potting shed corresponds to the outbuilding in the north-east corner, near the bottom of the north perimeter steps, though I think it too has now gone).
Also note the north perimeter steps and the path at the bottom of the garden - that patch towards the bottom left hand corner was the location of the caravan. As I say, fascinating stuff (alright, not really). Many thanks to Eric Nernie for sending this in.

  1. I saw Julian's caravan while picking my sister up from a play date with her friend (a neighbor of the Lennon family) in 1968. The caravan was located on the left side of the driveway just inside of the entrance to the property.

  2. That's interesting. When was that? There are photos of it in situ which show the north-western bit of Kenwood in the background, which would place it where I indicated. It must have been moved around - you may have seen it as it was being readied for the move to Dorinish.
