Kenwood: sunroom wall.

There is a very exciting (seriously) Kenwood related project currently happening, the fruits of which you will be able to see here and here. As part of this, we need to gather as much information as possible about the pictures hanging on the sunroom wall. (Several of these have been identified, but many more haven't.) The first photo here has the most complete upper and lower perspective thus far. That appears to be the Lucy In The Sky picture hanging above the mirror. Compare the jagged lines to its left with the colour image. However, some of the details are clearly different - has anyone got any idea why, or a version of this pic closer to the one hanging on the wall? Next up, the two books visible on the bottom right. One is the 1967 US edition of John's collected works; but what is the other one? Finally, the Alan Aldridge "Dr Lennon" is by now well known to us, and on the other end of that wall is the vintage map also shown here.
The rest remains a mystery. Any information, or ideally scans, would be greatly appreciated - send them to the email address in the header above. (Also, does anyone have a decent photo of the Fool painted piano?)

  1. Quite interesting - the "Lucy" on the wall seems to feature a guitar player as well as a speaker. On the color version some parts must have faded, making the guitar player look like and insect.

  2. My opinion is that John probably did the drawing on the wall based (loosely) on Julian's painting. I doubt Julian did that drawing at 4 years old.

  3. If it`s actually John`s "repro", he did it very well, at least the flashes look exactly the same!

  4. I don't think that is the same as the "Lucy" drawing. Maybe it is a different drawing Julian did? I know that John frequently framed Sean's drawings, and it wouldn't surprise me if he did the same with Julians.

  6. I never believed the story regarding the drawing. And I think the above pictures actually proves that it wasn't Julian's drawing. Clearly, it is the same drawing, the jagged lines and the figure below the jagged lines which looks a bit like a flying bird (only partially shown in the "official version") match up perfectly. And just as clearly you can see that the omitted details in the drawing (like the speaker) were not drawn by a 4 year old kid! Even the cropped official version doesn't remotely look like the work of a 4 year old imo. So obviously the drawing on the wall is the original and was redrawn/photoshopped for the official Julian version.
So why the elaborate story? Methinks John thought the LSD connotation was a good idea at the time, but later changed his mind!
