Sunroom: variants, June 1967.
The most famous sunroom pics turn up with slight variations from time to time, including in colour. Here are 3 variations, and a couple of comps to give the widest perspective.
Interesting. The purported Lucy in the Sky drawing above the round mirror is blacked out. I wonder why? Also something else over the gasfire is blacked out. Does anyone know why?
Yes - it's because in those cases I comped two images together to give the widest possible perspective. Hence the "blackouts", which are the areas not covered in either of the original photos.
It's possible that the picture labelled as the "Lucy" pic is not actually the original Lucy pic. However, I'd still be inclined to go with the original story (that the title came from a drawing of Julian's).
I still think the painting/drawing above the round mirror is without question the painting which is "officially" Julian's (and obviously isn't as it is clearly not the work a 4 year-old). I think this is good evidence proving that the story was concocted. Whether or not the original story is true or not I haven't a clue, but I always felt John was embarrassed about the song title. My two cents.

ReplyDeleteOk but...
ReplyDeleteSo don't you agree with my conclusion posted earlier regarding Julian's painting?
I find this highly entertaining.
