New York City: 434 East 52nd Street, 1974 & 2009.

Having just returned from a month or so in NYC, some NYC. John's New York City t-shirt, now rather mottled with age, is just one of many interesting items on display at the Lennon exhibition in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Annex. I was a little dubious before going, but the whole thing is very well done, and there is an undoubted psychic jolt to be had from pressing your nose up to overly familiar items of John's clothing, guitars etc. If you can spare 25 "clams", as I believe they aren't called, and are in the New York area, I'd recommend going along. Anyway, John's penthouse apartment on East 52nd Street. It is easy to see why he chose this place - despite being in a very busy part of Manhattan, it is relatively isolated; a fenced dead end overlooks a sheer drop down to the East River at the far end. No-one would walk down this street unless a) they lived there, b) they were visiting someone who lived there, or c) they were wasting their time taking photos of walls that JL once pointed at. Here he is showing the approximate direction of his UFO sighting (see Walls & Bridges), plus the same wall from the plebian ground now.
