Anyone trying to phone Kenwood would usually get an answerphone message - "This is Weybridge Four, Five, Wubbleyoo, Dubbleyoo, please leave your message now". Mr Pilgrim was the codename that let John know if the caller was someone he actually wanted to speak to.
