Kenwood: grounds - 1965 & 2008.

I just realised that I have got my Bobs mixed up - these shots from the garden aren't Freeman, but Whitaker. Shows how much I know. Anyway, he has, quite artfully, managed to avoid getting Kenwood itself in any of these photographs. We can see from Joe's video how large it looms (that is the same wall, as it turns out), so this was clearly deliberate. I wonder if that was his idea, or if it was John who told him to keep the house out of it for some reason, obvious or otherwise.

  2. Yes - it has been patched up a little bit, but still, as Mr Larry David might say: pretty, pretty good!

  3. It's definitely the same wall. During a visit in late 2003 the property was undergoing some extensive landscaping, and this masonry work was part of it. It appeared as thought the steps were being re-laid and parts of the wall were being shored up, but I never saw the end result.

  4. In the John-Cynthia picture (a good one by the way, one that I haven't seen either), there's like a shelf sticking out down there that you can't really see in the recent picture of it.

Maybe it's the length position of the camera or the remodel landscape?

  5. That shelf is either nor there now, or else obscured by foliage. Chip - you've been to Kenwood? Take any pics? :)

  6. Hi,
I confirm the landscaping; the soil has been built up towards the wall and is now level with the shelf (first pic)
