West Malling: airfield.

Looking through some old "analogue" photos this evening, I came across a few that I took at West Malling Air Station (scene of I Am The Walrus), circa 1984 (pics 3 & 4 in this post). As you can see from the satellite image, the whole area was razed to the ground in the 90s and is now completely unrecognisable as the scene of that bit of MMT. Also here, a fanpic of John in Soho during the editing of MMT (thanks to Bruno Dupont) plus a couple showing the Beatles "editing" said film. No comment required, I think. (What, you may ask, does this have to do with Kenwood? Nothing much, aside from the fact that John would have been driven to West Malling each day from Kenwood.)

  1. editing was a fantastic time for us fans, as they were in a small building (as opposed to emi!) and we could sit inside on the steps right across from the door where they were working and could hear a lot! one day they got locked out and had to wait with us for quite a while until someone came with the key, another day paul asked some of us to see what they were working on. those were the days, my friend! even though i had been seeing them a lot that whole year, it was still quite unbelievable to have them there with us, making us laugh!

  3. Are those last two pics of them editing MMT? I always thought it was inside the Apple boutique or something!
