Attic: recording studio, 1967.
When not in bed, John spent most of his time at Kenwood in either the sunroom or the attic recording studio. Many of his most celebrated songs were written in this room plus, of course, the Two Virgins night happened right here. I doubt any fans were ever invited up here by John, which explains why no such photos are in circulation. The photos which do exist are from a Beatles Book monthly session in 1967. If you would like to hear recordings of John in this room fannying about on his mellotron, go HERE and scroll down to the embedded players in the John section. Other recordings of songs being demoed or written in the attic are freely available on-line - I expect anyone reading this will already have them, or know where to find them.
That piano looks like one George had. In some of the interviews for Brainwashed there is a piano like that one behind Dhani Harrison at Friar Park. Maybe it's the same one.
ReplyDeleteI have several scans from the Leslie Bryce (Beatles Montly) photo shoot at Kenwood on my blog: http://childofnaturebeatles@blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to post them here with a link back to my blog. Thanks, and continue the excellent work.
