Bill Martin, an extremely successful composer in his own write, bought Kenwood from John Lennon. Kenwood was originally called the Brown House, and rumour has it that UK manufacturer Kenneth Wood changed its name when he owned the house in the pre-Lennon era. This has never been confirmed, though it's worth a thought next time you fire up that "teasmade".
UPDATE: A close relative of Mr Wood has been in touch; it turns out Ken Wood had no connection with Kenwood after all. Who renamed the house, and why, remains, therefore, a mystery. Nuff commas, innit?
